Koand’s Favorite 8 Songs If He Were Trapped On A Deserted Island: Number 7

Purcell - Dido’s Lament

Many years ago, Koand was asked to come up with such a list. Koand says he came to appreciate the singing of Anne Sofie von Otter in part because she seemed to be a human singing as opposed to a performer. The selected performance has the quality one might find in a Billie Holliday recording, he says. In the interview, the artist also shares an anecdote about cello tape (scotch tape to us North Americans) home repairs that would be characteristic of his music loving but impractical family.

"Dido's Lament: When I Am Laid In Earth" Lyrics

When I am laid, am laid in earth, may my wrongs create
No trouble, no trouble in, in thy breast.
When I am laid, am laid in earth, may my wrongs create
No trouble, no trouble in, in thy breast.
Remember me, remember me, but ah!
Forget my fate.
Remember me, but ah!
Forget my fate.
Remember me, remember me, but ah!
Forget my fate.
Remember me, but ah!
Forget my fate.
