Duke Ellington Orchestra - Blood Count
Many years ago, Koand was asked to come up with such a list. Koand says about this piece that it stands up with the greatest compositions of the 1900s along with those of Stravinsky, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and Charles Mingus. This artist expresses particular admiration for the playing of Billy Strayhorn and Michael Hodges who performed with the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
