Hortense is really sad now. Hortense est vraiment triste maintenant.

This is part of a series of letters by Josephine and Hortense to their son and brother, Eugene. When we last left off, Hortense was consumed with grief and dread at being sent to Holland, where she would be at the mercy of her controlling husband Louis.

Dear Eugene,
June 6, 1806.

Yesterday, the prince was proclaimed king of Holland (2); I also received the deputation, and there is nothing more now, my dear Eugène, than to have courage. Everyone is crying around me; Mom is unreasonable and I, who am the most unhappy, I still have to console everyone.
The Emperor wants us to leave next Wednesday; I will therefore still therefore have to move away from you;

…….

(1) Hortense had arrived there on May 2.

(2) The reopening of the deputation from Holland to the Tuilerirs, during which Louis was proclaimed king, took place in the throne room, at the Tuileries, on June 5, 1806. June 3, Talleyrand had made the prince aware of the treaty of May 24 and the new constitution of his kingdom.

…….

I have the promise, however, that when you come to Paris, I will be notified immediately. I am too sad at not seeing you. Write to me often: you must know how much I need you, in this moment. I need your friendship to boost my courage.
I’ll be bringing my children. Adieu, I kiss you as I love you.
HORTENSE.

It’s interesting that in the chart above the Sun is transiting Hortense’s midheaven and she’s becoming a queen.

Il est intéressant de noter que dans le tableau ci-dessus, le Soleil transite au milieu du ciel de Hortense et elle devient une reine.
