I used to work for a real life media puppet named Roger Rosenblatt.

He’d go from Jewish Center to Jewish Center invoking the horrors of the holocaust and he’d close his canned speech with:

“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

People in the audience would cry sometimes hearing these words.

I had never seen one hint whatsoever that this guy was anything ever other than a typical narcissistic Manhattan **shole. One day I asked him if he was even Jewish.

He seemed shocked and after he thought up his answer he said:

“Yes, when it suits me to be.”
