I have a very soft spot for honeybees because Napoleon chose the honeybee as one of his chief symbols.

It was a very apt choice because he really did have a honey side which he worked hard to hide lest people take advantage of him. This is all over Napoleon’s Stepdaughter Hortense’s Memoirs.

Napoleon also chose the bee because it is very hardworking. Napoleon was known for working almost constantly without much food or sleep to ensure the best interests of France. This industrious led to vastly more organized and just laws than had ever existed before - the Napoleonic Code.

The bee was also an appropriate symbol for Napoleon because you did not want to get on his bad side. He had quite a stinger!
