Napoleon thought so highly of Lavallette that he arranged a marriage for him with Hortense’s cousin Émilie de Beauharnais. Though Émilie wasn’t into Lavallette at first, he won her over because he was such a decent guy.
The weirdest part of all is that Émilie really wanted Napoleon to let her marry the individual who would become arguably the world’s worst husband ever Louis Bonaparte!
