Sick families often resemble cults. There is a malignant narcissist at the top of the pyramid and everyone else must learn to cope with the abuse somehow. Often a narcissist’s child will emulate the top abuser in order to gain privileges and to lord over the other siblings with the blessing of the creepy narcissist at the top.

While being a golden child can bring favor during the younger years, the golden child usually grows up to become a narcissistic loser who lacks a sense of self and integrity. The golden child has the most invested in viewing the the top malignant narcissist as wonderful when he’s really quite the opposite.
